FUJI INTRODUCES NEW SUBMINI CAMERA (3/12/97)

In Japan, Fuji has just begun to sell a Minox-style spy camera, the MC-007, which accepts the Minox cartridge. To back the launch of this camera, Fuji has developed a special Minox-size version of its New Reala color print film in 15 and 30 exposure cartridges. The camera measures 84x21x35mm and it has an optional MS-008 flash unit which attaches to the side of the camera. Specification of the model includes a 15mm f/3.5 lens which is focused manually.

This camera is undoubtedly a reincarnation of the Asanuma (ACMEL) MD camera. Fuji was heavily involved in the design and production of the original. It will be interesting to see if Fuji puts any marketing money behind the program. Probably more interesting to see if they put support into worldwide processing facilities which would be necessary for the true success of the camera.

At this point we have no information about whether Fuji plans to market the camera in the U.S. Perhaps if Fuji get enough calls and letters (hint, hint), it will happen.
