Minox IIIS

Trees in Early Fall Light, Harriman State Park, New York (1997)

"While on a fall foliage photographic expedition - shooting mostly 35mm color - with my fellow Minoxer Joel, we were hiking around a lake in the early afternoon. When we reached this view, I was struck by the strong verticals of the trees and the beautiful light coming off the lake. I told Joel this would make a great Minox b/w shot, but since this isn't the type of picture he usually takes, he was dubious. I think it came out very nicely, especially given the interesting way that Plus-X reproduces light."

1956 Minox IIIS with Plus-X film, exposure probably 1/50. Developed in D-76 1:1 and printed at 4x5" on Luminos Flexicon VC RC with #2-1/2 filter using a 1950s Omega D3 enlarger with a 50mm EL-Nikkor lens. Scanned to PCX file at 200dpi, then scaled back to 4x5" and converted to JPEG with minor contrast/brightness corrections.
